Fall of Constantinople May twenty ninth, fourteen fifty three
Fall of Trabzon August Fifteenth, fourteen sixty one
Samsun May nineteenth, nineteen nineteen

Labor battalions, murders, exile, burning of villages, rapes…
Three hundred and fifty three thousand

Elders, women, and children on an unending path towards martyrdom. Dropping dead from exhaustion and their blows.

They had gathered all children on a circle. They were lashing us hard, and stinging us with their swords to prevent us from crying. Most of us were imploring death to come.

They transferred the women and children in a place just outside Kerasous and handed us to the wild Turkish gendarmes.

I deliver Christian women for five cents a head!

December eleventh, nineteen sixteen. Five Greek villages were looted, and then burned to the ground. The villagers were displaced.
December twelfth, nineteen sixteen. On the town’s outskirts, villages are being burned to the ground. December fourteenth, nineteen sixteen. Entire villages are burned along with schools and churches.
December seventeenth, , nineteen sixteen. In the region of Samsun, they burned eleven villages. The looting continues. The villagers are being abused.
December thirty one, nineteen sixteen. About eighteen villages were entirely burned. Approximately sixty women had been raped. They looted even the churches.

On November eighth they announced the firman, on the thirteenth it was posted, and up until November sixteenth, all people of Tripolis had to abandon homes, fields and boats. We had to bury at the place where we gave birth, where we toiled, where we rejoiced and loved with all our heart, the great heart of a small population that followed upstanding, unbeaten, its faith and homeland.

No Greek of Tripolis joined the Turks, no Greek preferred to alter their faith and save their lives.

A year after our return from exile, we hardly managed to survive. Then he came with his gendarmes at dawn and surrounded the village. They gathered us one by one and put us in a house, by the church. Men, women, children, elders, and infants. They set fire to the house and burned us alive!

Prior to burning us alive, they chose 5 young women and kept them for themselves. Then they spilled in and around the house ten cans of oil and threw a grenade. A fire started! All this kept for ten to twenty minutes. We were screaming. Women’s screams were reaching the sky. The house blew up amid the flames and buried us all in!

The five women who the Turks have chosen, to rape us, realized what would happen, and as we saw the fire and heard the voices, we ran towards the burning house crying

In the name of the Lord

We jumped into the fire and burned alive. We died along with the others.

All this lasted for around half an hour. Half an hour later, the gendarmes left and went on to other villages. In every village, they stayed for half an hour, burned, and then left. There were not burning all houses in the villages. . They burned only one house with all villagers inside it.

All one could hear was the sound of wood, burning in the fire, burnt walls and beams, which fell with a bang over the bodies laying like piles of coal and ash, down on the floor.

I deliver Christian women for five cents a head!

Three hundred and fifty three thousand.
